OpenClaw setup & support - OpenClaw, set up properly so you actually use it.

OpenClaw is a brilliant open-source personal AI assistant — runs on your machine, talks to you in iMessage and Slack and WhatsApp, drives your local apps and APIs. It's also a few hours of fiddly configuration before any of that works. We do that part for you.

OpenClaw is an independent open-source project by the OpenClaw team. Sandlabs is not affiliated with OpenClaw — we just install and support it, the way other consultancies install Salesforce or HubSpot.

What we set up - Six things you'd otherwise spend a weekend figuring out.

OpenClaw is genuinely powerful, but the README is long and the channels each have their own quirks. We do the configuration work once, properly, with monitoring and security defaults that survive your first month of real use.

  • Channels. iMessage, WhatsApp, Slack, Telegram, Discord, Signal, Teams — wired up to a single OpenClaw instance with proper auth, rate limits, and per-channel persona if you need different tones for different audiences.
  • Models. Claude Sonnet by default, with fallbacks to Opus for hard reasoning, Haiku for cheap tasks, and local Ollama for sensitive workloads. Routing rules per task type so you spend smartly.
  • AgentSkills. The skills that matter for your workflow turned on, scoped, and tested — file system, shell, web browser, calendar, email, plus custom skills we write to talk to your CRM, ticketing, or internal APIs.
  • Security & spend controls. Sandboxed shell access, allowlisted commands, per-channel permission separation, daily spend caps per model, and audit logs so you can see exactly what OpenClaw did and why.
  • Hosting. On your own machine for full privacy, on a tiny VPS we provision for always-on operation, or containerized in your cloud account. Whichever fits your security policy.
  • Monitoring & updates. Health checks, error alerting, monthly upgrade pass to keep up with OpenClaw releases. Optional retainer if you want us to keep iterating on skills as your workflow evolves.

Who it's for - Where OpenClaw earns its keep.

OpenClaw isn't for every use case — if you need a customer-facing chatbot or a high-throughput agent for a SaaS product, talk to us about a custom build instead. These are the patterns where OpenClaw is the right tool.

  • Personal exec assistant. Triage email, schedule meetings, summarise long threads, draft replies in your voice, fetch flight details before you travel — all from the messaging app you already check 100 times a day.
  • Solo founder ops. A single OpenClaw acting as inbox triage, calendar manager, customer support draft layer, and "did anyone mention us on Twitter today" digest — for a tiny fraction of a real assistant.
  • Family or household use. Shared smart-home control, calendar coordination, recipe and shopping list management — accessed from iMessage by anyone in the household with proper per-user permissions.
  • Small team back office. Slack-driven access to your CRM, ticketing, and internal docs. Engineering can ask questions, sales can pull deal data, ops can trigger runbooks — without anyone leaving Slack.

How we work - A week to set up. Optional retainer to keep evolving.

OpenClaw is simpler than a full custom build, so the engagement is tighter — most setups close inside seven days end to end.

  • Day 1 — Discovery. One call to map the channels you want, the workflows you actually want OpenClaw to handle, and the systems it needs access to. We'll tell you on the call if OpenClaw is the wrong tool.
  • Day 3 — First channel live. One messaging channel and one model wired up, talking to one of your tools. You experience the value before paying the second invoice.
  • Day 7 — Full deployment. All channels live, custom AgentSkills installed, monitoring and spend controls in place, written handover doc. Optional monthly retainer if you want us to keep iterating.

FAQ - The questions people ask before booking.

If yours isn't here, the contact form is the fastest way to ask.

  • Where does OpenClaw run?. Wherever you want — your laptop, a small VPS, or a container in your cloud account. We pick together based on whether you need always-on availability or full air-gapped privacy.
  • Where do my conversations go?. Into a database you own. By default that's a local Postgres on the same machine OpenClaw runs on. Nothing leaves your environment except the API calls to whichever AI model you point it at.
  • What does it cost to run?. The software is free. You pay for whichever AI models you route through it (Claude, GPT, etc.) and any hosting if you choose not to run on your own machine. We set spend caps so you can't be surprised.
  • Can I add more channels later?. Yes — adding a new channel post-launch is usually a small change. Same for new AgentSkills as your workflow evolves.
  • Is this for businesses or individuals?. Both work. Solo founders and busy individuals get the most obvious value because OpenClaw lives in their personal messaging. Small teams use it for shared internal-tool access from Slack.
  • What if OpenClaw isn't the right fit?. We'll tell you on the discovery call. About a third of OpenClaw conversations end with us recommending something else — a Claude API integration, a custom MCP server, or just a simpler workflow change.
